George Nissen - sadly missed
We have been advised by Tim Blake, the son of the Nissen UK Chief Exec Ted Blake who worked with George Nissen to develop the modern sport we know today, that George Nissen, the inventor of the modern trampoline, passed away. He died this morning at 3:10am (London local time) mid-evening Wednesday 7:10pm (San Diego California local time - 7th April) at the age of 96 from complications from pneumonia. His wife and family were in attendance at his bedside. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
George Nissen was an inspiration and despite his age was always in attendance at the annual Nissen Cup, the longest running international competition in trampoline named in his honour, where he would still perform tricks to delight the audience. More details about Nissen's contribution to trampolining are at http://www.brentwoodtc.org/history.htm and associated pages.
